My name is Margaret McLaren. I am a Christian first and foremost, even if I don’t talk about it a lot. Homeschooling our kids and helping with our business (McLaren Family Crafts) are the things that take up most of my time. I do, however, have some free time that I like to devote to non-business crafting, gardening, reading, listening to/playing music, doing things outside, and sometimes ham (amateur) radio.
I have been married to my best friend and husband, Buddy, since 2007. We live in rural Brown County, Indiana where we raise our four daughters. We chose not to use their real names on the blog, so their “stage” names are Serendipity, Independence, Constance, and Joy. None of the four has been to public or private school. Serendipity is eight years old and is considered in third grade. Independence is six years old and in first grade. Constance is four years old and is in what we call P4, which isn’t anything formal. It’s only her learning things she wants to or doing work with the older two. Joy is two years old and isn’t doing any formal school at all.
If we have to be pigeon-holed, we homeschool in the Charlotte Mason and classical “styles” of homeschooling. We loosely use the workbox method of organizing the day.
